Hale O Piʻikea has joined Maui Green and Beautiful’s ReShade Maui campaign, supporting the long-term development of a mature tree canopy across the Kīhei community’s parking and street areas. The initiative promotes tree-maintenance practices intended to provide greater shade over asphalt and concrete, moderate surrounding temperatures, improve stormwater absorption and support cleaner air. Developed by ʻIkenākea Development, Hale O Piʻikea provides 223 affordable rental homes for Maui families, individuals and kūpuna. Its participation will allow the completed community to serve as a local example of heat-conscious landscape management for housing developments and other large properties.
