Hale Makana O Uluwehi redevelopment receives ceremonial blessing
A ceremonial blessing marked the redevelopment of Hale Makana O Uluwehi in Māʻili, an affordable rental community for Native Hawaiian beneficiaries on the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands waitlist. The project will transform the former Ulu Ke Kukui site into 40 two-bedroom, two-bathroom homes serving households earning between 30% and 80% of Area Median Income. Residents will also have access to childcare, financial counseling, employment support and homebuyer education intended to help families prepare for future homestead ownership. The community resource center will extend selected services to other DHHL beneficiaries beyond the development’s resident population.
